Where Was Persuasion Filmed?
The film is set to release in May 2021 and is being shot in various locations throughout the South of England, including Bath, London, Somerset, Dorset, and Buckinghamshire. Bath is the largest city in Somerset and is famous for its Roman baths. The film promises to be a visually stunning portrayal of the historic city.
Bath
The English spa town of Bath has been a favorite location for period dramas for many years, thanks to its elegant Georgian architecture and leisured society. Jane Austen was a resident of Bath between 1800 and 1806 and set scenes from her novels Northanger Abbey and Persuasion in the city.
The recent television adaptation of Austen’s novel Bridgerton has once again brought Bath to the forefront of the public consciousness, but the city has been a popular filming location for many other productions, including the BBC’s The Pursuit of Love and McDonald & Dodds. Filming for the new film adaptation of Persuasion took place on Bath Street, with its distinctive colonnades, and in the Gravel Walk, a passage behind the Royal Crescent and the Circus.
Some scenes set in Bath were filmed elsewhere, including at Osterley Park in Isleworth, West London, and Ammerdown House in Kilmersdon, about 10 miles south of the city in Somerset.
Lyme Regis, Dorset
The quaint town of Lyme Regis in Dorset, England, served as one of the key locations for the film adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Persuasion.” Scenes were filmed on the historic Cobb stone harbor wall, as well as on the picturesque Freshwater beach at Burton Bradstock. The town’s beautiful natural setting and its historic landmarks make it a popular destination for visitors from all over the world.
Salisbury, Wiltshire
The Trafalgar Park is a grand ancestral home of the Elliot family, which is used for filming Persuasion. The movie is a story of love and loss. The movie is set in the early 18th century and follows the story of the Elliot family, who must give up their home for financial reasons. The film is a heartwarming romance that will leave audiences captivated.
