This is when the Metro, Shields Ferry, buses and trains will run over Christmas

The public transport timetable for the 2020 festive interval has been launched by Nexus which runs the Tyne and Wear Metro service.

It’s been a wierd 12 months which has seen a lot of our transport operators make tweaks and modifications to timetables.

And whereas the Metro has been working a decreased service on account of the pandemic it will be reduce additional at some factors over the festive interval.

Anyone counting on public transport is urged to verify timetables earlier than they journey, and to make sure they’ve a masks or face overlaying earlier than boarding or getting into a station.

There aren’t any Metro providers on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

On Christmas Eve, there is a regular weekday service till about 6pm, and then an hourly service till 11pm.

On Boxing Day, there is a regular

From December 27 till December 30, Metro providers will run to the ordinary timetables.

On New Year’s Eve, a traditional weekday service will run till 10pm, then each half-hour till 11pm.

There aren’t any bus providers on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

On Christmas Eve, Go North East and Stagecoach will run a Saturday service; Arriva will largely function a Saturday service with some exceptions. Buses will run till about 6pm, then a decreased service till 7.30pm, when most providers will end.

On Boxing Day the fundamental bus operators will run some daytime providers, with further providers paid for by Nexus. More data is connected beneath.

On December 27 providers run by the fundamental bus operators will run to regular Sunday timetables.

On December 28, Arriva and Stagecoach will function a Saturday service; Go North East will run a Sunday service.

On December 29 and 30 , the fundamental bus operators will run Saturday providers, with some exceptions from Arriva.

On New Year’s Eve the fundamental bus operators will run a Saturday service, with some exceptions from Arriva, till about 6pm, then decreased providers till 7.30pm, when most bus providers will end.

Shields Ferry

There aren’t any Shields Ferry providers on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

On Christmas Eve there will be a traditional Thursday service.

On Boxing Day ferry providers will function to a Sunday timetable.

The ferry will run to a Sunday timetable on December 27 and 28, and a traditional timetable from December 29 to 31.

Rail (Northern practice providers between Newcastle and Sunderland)

There aren’t any Northern Rail providers on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.

Northern will function regular providers on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve with a decreased timetable from 7pm.

It will run a Sunday service on December 27 and 28 and a traditional weekday service on December 29 and 30.

Nexus Customer Services will open for its regular hours on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and is closed on Christmas Day, December 28 and New Year’s Day.

It will open as regular on different weekdays.
