While “The Flash” is already set to hurry again to the CW for its eighth season, two of its unique stars are staying behind: Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh are each formally leaving the show after Season 7.
Cavanagh — who performed a number of alternate variations of the sensible and prickly scientist Harrison Wells (in addition to Flash nemesis Eobard Thawne) — was technically set to finish his tenure as a collection common with Season 6. But after the pandemic shutdown, Cavanagh stayed on to wrap up these storylines within the first three episodes of Season 7. Since then, he is been billed as a recurring visitor star.
Valdes, in the meantime, will finish his run as a collection common with the Season 7 finale. He started the collection as Francisco “Cisco” Ramon, resident tech geek at S.T.A.R. Labs who helps create and keep Barry Allen’s super-suit because the Flash. (*7*), Cisco took on the superhero persona of Vibe (and, later, Mecha-Vibe).
In an announcement, government producer and showrunner Eric Wallace mentioned he’s “maintaining the door open” for each actors to return as visitor stars.
“Tom and Carlos have been an integral a part of our show for seven seasons, and will probably be drastically missed,” Wallace mentioned. “Both are unimaginable skills who created beloved characters that followers and audiences all over the world have come to like. Which is why we’re fortunately maintaining the door open for return appearances.”
With Valdes and Cavanagh’s departure, “The Flash” core unique cast stays Grant Gustin as Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West-Allen, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow (a.okay.a. Frost and Killer Frost), and Jesse L. Martin as Iris’ father (and Barry’s father determine) Joe West.
Deadline first reported the information about Valdes and Cavanagh.
