Sebastian Shaw is the English actor who appeared as Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi in 1983. The position was not performed by David Prowse. Shaw died in December 1994 at 89.

Prowse died in London on November 28 on the age of 85 following a battle with a brief sickness.

David Prowse told Rock Cellar Magazine in an October 2012 interview that he was by no means advised that James Earl-Jones can be performing the voice of Darth Vader. Prowse went on to say why Sebastian Shaw was introduced in to play the position of Darth Vader when the supervillain’s face is lastly revealed through the climax of Return of the Jedi. In a 2007 interview, Prowse told The Void that it was revealed to him that Shaw would take the position throughout an interview with a Daily Mail reporter in the early Eighties. Prowse stated the reporter requested him, “You know you are being killed off in this film, do not you? And one other man’s taking part in the dying Darth Vader?” Prowse replied, “They would not do this – they would not go and unmask someone else after I’ve performed the half for six years.”

Prowse stated that after he confirmed his name sheet to the reporter which recognized Sebastian Shaw as taking part in the a part of Anakin Skywalker. His Guardian obituary doesn’t point out his look in Return of the Jedi. It does point out that on the age of 73, Shaw was painted in the nude by his nephew, Brian Ocean. The tribute ends with the phrases, “He was a panoramic phenomenon.”
