Prosecutors allege Wall and his companion, Emma Brown, argued with Mr Fowler and his fiance, Coreena Jamieson, at Brown’s house in Leam Lane, Gateshead.

Newcastle Crown Court heard it’s claimed the row ended with Wall, who denies murder, stabbing Mr Fowler twice in the abdomen.

Simon Kealey QC, prosecuting, advised jurors: “The Crown’s case is that in the night of Friday eleventh September 2020 an argument broke out between each males and their companions on the house of Emma Brown, the defendant’s companion.

“The argument turned violent between all 4 adults.

“At one level in the disturbance the defendant stabbed him twice to the abdomen, fatally injuring him.”

He added: “In the aftermath of the assault the defendant and Emma Brown, his companion, additionally tried to mislead the police by offering false info as to the id of these concerned in the assault claiming it had been dedicated by two unknown males who had fled the scene.

“They each went on to try to cover the knife used to stab Mr Fowler by placing it down a drain.
