One of the uniqueReal Housewives of Atlanta is saying goodbye: NeNe Leakes won’t be again for Season 13 of the Bravo actuality collection, she introduced Thursday.
In an emotional YouTube video (embedded above), Leakes shared that “a particularly, extraordinarily lengthy, exhausting, tiring, emotional negotiation” resulted within the “tough” choice to exit the show after its twelfth season.
“I began on The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2008. We took off like a rocket,” she stated. “You may have by no means informed me that I might begin on this little show and it will nonetheless be going robust 13, 14 years later. And it’s. I’m simply so pleased that I can say that I used to be part of a style that opened up doorways for Black ensemble actuality reveals to step up and be part of what all of us now love a lot — actuality TV.”
Leakes’ potential departure (and/or firing) from the show had been rumored for weeks. Back in June, Leakes’ supervisor, Steven Grossman, said in a statement that “it’s completely not true that NeNe has been fired from RHOA,” including that “it was made abundantly clear prior that she’s going to at all times be welcome on the collection so long as she needs to be.”
Leakes was a part of RHOA‘s authentic forged when it debuted in 2008, then took a break after Season 7 to pursue roles on reveals resemblingGlee andThe New Normal. She later returned to the collection in Season 10 and has been a full-time forged member since then.
Her castmate Eva Marcille beforehand introduced in June that she was leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta, whereas Denise Richards and Dorinda Medley are exiting The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives of New York City, respectively.
