America’s favourite serial killer is coming again.
Showtime has ordered a restricted sequence revival of bloody drama “Dexter” and star Michael C. Hall will return to the title position. It will likely be 10 episodes lengthy, and additional plot particulars are underneath wraps.
“Dexter” initially ran for eight seasons (2006 to 2013), following the titular Miami-based serial killer, performed by Hall, 49. He made the weird selection to solely goal fellow serial killers as his victims — all whereas working for the police division, proper underneath the noses of those that may put him behind bars.
The show loved crucial acclaim throughout its run, together with a slew of Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. However, a revival is an audacious selection as a result of — like “Lost,” “How I Met Your Mother” and “Game of Thrones” — it did not precisely have a beloved ending.
As a refresher, on the shut of the eighth and last season, Dexter’s sister (and sort-of love curiosity) Debra Morgan — performed by Hall’s real-life ex-wife, Jennifer Carpenter — dies, and Dexter sends his child off to stay along with his serial-killer girlfriend, Hannah (“The Handmaid’s Tale” star Yvonne Strahovski). As for Dexter himself? Rather than give him the logical finish the show was main to — resembling demise or jail or maybe continued life as a serial killer — the show made the baffling selection to finish with him turning into a lumberjack.
Nothing “Dexter” did up to that time had remotely set that up. It was so random and nonsensical, it is an ending that lives in TV infamy for example to all showrunners of what not to do.
But now, it will not be the final phrase anymore. Will the revival try to undo it? Will it lean into it, and discover his life as a lumberjack? Time will inform.
It would not but have a premiere date, however manufacturing is set for 2021.
