Man released under investigation after death of 49-year-old at a home in Sunderland

An investigation continues after a man was discovered expired in a home in Sunderland.

Police have been known as to the property on Hudson Road on Saturday morning and the 49-year-old was then pronounced expired at the scene.

Officers started enquiries and arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of supplying a Class A drug.

On Monday, a spokesperson for Northumbria Police confirmed that he has since been released under investigation.

A spokesperson mentioned: “At about 9.40am on Saturday we obtained a report from the ambulance service that a man had died at a property on Hudson Road in Sunderland.

“Emergency providers attended the scene and a 49-year-old man was sadly confirmed expired.

“Enquiries into the circumstances across the death are ongoing.

“A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying a Class A drug and has been released under investigation.”
