Major North East rail service disruption after cracks found in County Durham built trains

An investigation has been launched after hairline cracks have been found in excessive velocity trains made in the North East which led to a collection of cancellations on Saturday.

The concern was found in the Hitachi 800 collection trains, made on the firm’s manufacturing unit in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, that are utilized by Great Western Railway, London North Eastern Railways and Transpennine Express.
