Amazon Prime Video has taken the worldwide rights to Freeform’s upcoming thriller drama sequence Cruel Summer (previously referred to as Last Summer), from Bert V. Royal, Jessica Biel, eOne, and Iron Ocean Productions.
Amazon will premiere the sequence outdoors of U.S., Canada, and China after its launch on Freeform. Cruel Summer takes place over three summers — 1993-95 — in a small Texas city when a stupendous widespread teen, Kate (Olivia Holt), is kidnapped and, seemingly unrelated, a woman, Jeanette (Chiara Aurelia), goes from being a candy, awkward outlier to the most well-liked woman on the town and, by ’95, probably the most despised individual in America. Each episode is advised from the POV of one of many two major ladies, which could have the viewers’ loyalties continuously shifting as extra data is revealed.
